Diatom's Sodium Silicate of is being used in the expansion of São Paulo subway system. Also known as liquid glass, the product is indicated to be applied in tunnel opening, galleries, foundations, sealing and infiltration in the underground and in the construction of roads, because it reacts creating a silicon gel which, added to the particles of the soil, gives maximal resistance to loads and reduces permeability to water. This technique allows to carry out projects that would otherwise seem unfeasible.
